During my camping trip back in March, I came up with an easy hobo dinner recipe that incorporated everyone's favorite flavors. A hobo dinner is a wonderful meal to make while camping. They are generally mess-free, take little effort to put together, and are made individually so it requires very little dishes that need to be washed afterwards! That's an added benefit if you are going on a bare-bones camping trip.

When you have as much going on as I do, a large number of printables are required for staying organized. On any given day, I have at least ten must-accomplish items on my To-Do lists that are for at least 5 different projects, jobs, or assignments. That's why I LOVE printables. Every college student feels the pressure of staying organized. Managing 5 classes, an internship, and a job can be like trying to stay afloat in quicksand. My main problem is that I am never able to find one single planner that suits my needs. So, as part of my Spring Cleaning and organization, I decided to make one. To keep up with my 5 classes, 5 jobs, and new internship, I use a variety of calendars, week-view schedules, and to-do lists to stay organized. To me, nothing is better than a good to-do list. It helps you keep track of an prioritize your goals. In creating these free printables, I made them customizeable so that anyone can assemble their own planner to meet there needs. Here are my tips for staying organized and using the free printables you get when signing up for Beanies & Weenies newsletters below:
Get The Right Tools Not only is a good planner, or the right printables, necessary for staying organized, but so is the right tools. I would start with thesecolored tabbed dividers/sticky notes can mark important your most important pages and allow you to write quick notes without marking on the actual page. And they're a great size to use with free printables. You also need highlights to attract your eyes to important events, deadlines, and notes. These clear-view highlighters let you see what your highlighting. Lastly, you need to get fine tip pens so you can write in the smallest of spaces. These fine tipped pens come in a large variety of colors- perfect for color coding! Color Code Color coding can be a giant time saver when it comes to staying organized. With just one quick glance, you can use color coding to tell you what you have coming up. I use color to indicate differences between tests and quizzes, projects, homework, articles due for the newspaper, and any projects due for my freelance work. Needless to say, having a variety in colored pens and highlighters really comes in handy. Since most printables are black and white, bright colors stand out real well. Keep it All Together Office Depot offer great binding services. You can print out all your free printables, assemble them in the right order, and then take them to Office Depot for binding. You can choose from several binding options including different spines and cover materials. Or, for an alternate option, use a three-hole punch and a three-ring binder to keep all your free printable planner pages together instead. I keep one monthly calendar for every job I work plus school, so it is important for me to make sure all my printables stay together. Update Your To-Do List Everyday It is important to always make changes to your planner, your to-do list specifically, every time a change a occurs or else you're going to forget it. After all, that's what staying organized is all about. Cross off old tasks as you complete them, always write down important dates and times as soon as you learn about them, and reorganize the order of your to-do list to reflect what's most important. For me, rewriting my to-do list works best. It lets me add new things throughout the day and put the most important at the top the next day. I purposely created these free printables that had a master, daily to-do list because they keep me so organized and on track.

Hey guys! Sorry for the radio silence as of recently, but I've been on Spring Break and taking as much needed time off as I could. While I remained quite busy during Spring Break, I was able to catch up on my sleep which was my main goal. I was also able to catch up on some crochet orders that I can't wait to share with you. What I'm most excited to share with you is my amazing camping recipes and cooking tips. Yes, that's right. I said camping. Over our Spring Break, my friends, my boyfriend, and I took the cheap way out and went camping near the coast. While it was still very cold at night, we all had a blast and made some pretty awesome campfire meals as a result of it. Here are some pictures to prove it. Pretty rad, huh? We camped on the sound side on the Neuse River. We could hear the river washing up on shore at night and we were completely surrounded by the Croatan National Forest. Most importantly, the campsite we chose had bathhouses with warm water. Thank goodness. Camping was I hoot, but it did get boring after sunset when you couldn't see past your hands. I totally recommend camping for anyone who hasn't done it before. It'll teach you a thing or two about appreciating what you've got because I'll tell you what, I never slept as good as I did when I got back home to my own bed. There's plenty coming up to look forward to here at Beanies & Weenies. Here's a sneak peek so you'll know what's coming:

Hey guys!
Just thought I'd give y'all a quick update. I know I haven't been posting much lately, and it's a shame because I've got some great content planned, but I have been pretty sick for the past two weeks. Just in the midst of getting back into the swing of things at school, I started to get a cold with horrible head and chest congestion. My cough was ridiculous and the congestion made it impossible for me to look at a computer screen without the room spinning. I couldn't even do my school work. Turns out, it was a case of bronchitis coupled with a sinus infection- fun stuff. Anyway, with all the medication I've been taking, I'm finally back in the swing of things and ready to get all of this great content out for you guys! I have some really cool crochet patterns I want to share so stay tuned! I love a delicious smoothie. Strawberry banana is my jam. Not to mention pina coloda. I am constantly looking for a good fruit smoothie, so when I came across a pin about healthy breakfast smoothies, naturally, my curiosity was piqued. Let's face it. As a college student, I eat anything but healthy. I mean, I find myself going 10+ hours without eating sometimes for lack of time or money. And when I do eat, especially homemade food, I practically binge because who knows when I can have this luxury again. So if there's a way I can drink a delicious smoothie for breakfast that keeps me full for longer and doesn't make me feel guilty, then why not? I guess it just means I'm going to have to wake up an extra 10 minutes early (sigh). I have already done research on what makes a healthy and filling breakfast smoothie. The ingredients you use have to have: protein, fiber, and an equal amount of sugars and carbs. And don't forget that yummy taste! Here are the ingrients that I am keeping on hand to meet those requirements:
I'm going to experiment with different combinations and I'll be posting my results here. So, stay tuned for plenty of yummy smoothie recipes as I embark on this adventure with my $7.99 personal Black Friday blender (yay for holiday sales!). In the mean time, check out some more life blogposts Cheers!
The countdown is on! There is less than one week until Christmas! For those of you like me, you have spent plenty of time thinking about what you are going to get people for Christmas, but have yet to make it out to buy all those presents. The life of a college kid, am I right? I have become a master at throwing together last minute Christmas presents that still look good and show that you care enough to put in time and effort. I'm talking about gifts in a jar.
I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving. I know I ate way too much! Now that it is December, Christmas season is in full swing and I find my Christmas To Do List piling up. There's gifts to buy, cookies to bake, and let's not mention those dreaded finals... ugh. Once next week is over, and I have my finals behind me, I will be neck deep in Christmas crafts and baked goodies. And I am not ashamed. As I start planning out my Christmas To Do list, I have had trouble deciding what to do first. This is, by far, my favorite time of the year, so I more than excited to start breaking out the tinsel and egg nog. But, I am so overloaded with DIY Christmas Decorations, making and buying presents, cookies to bake, and movies to watch, that I don't know how I'm going to get it all done! And that my friends, is the exciting part. I am beyond thrilled to be able to focus on things other than school for the first time since probably last Christmas. I will get to work on the projects I want to work on and get a handle on the paperwork I have gotten behind on. So, it's time for me to finish these finals, kick back with my egg nog, and watch 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas' while I finish my holiday plans. Stay tuned for plenty of Christmas DIY's and awesome handmade ideas that will make great gifts. Here's what you can expect from Beanies & Weenies this holiday season:
Can I just take a moment to put my crochet hooks down and rave over the first glimpse of The Suicide Squad? That. Trailer. Was. Epic. Not even looking at the trailer in terms of filmography or acting, I can tell that it will be a hit. The world is curious as to what kind of destruction a giant group of supervillains will ultimately end up causing. That suspense alone will drive movie goers to the theater. That suspense has had me on the edge of my seat since I heard about the movie.
I have been waiting to get a glimpse of this movie ever since images of Batman chasing the Joker surfaced. And when news surfaced from Comic-Con that a trailer was shown, I could not wait to see it. I have always been a fan of DC supervillains. DC Comics has the best villains hands down. Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not a big enough comic book buff to know enough details to get picky over the differences between Marvel and DC. But, I am absolutely in love with the movie representations of these comics. I have been a fan of DC superheros and supervillians ever since I was a kid. Batman the Animated Series was my favorite TV show when I was younger; it was all thanks to the villains. From Poison Ivy and Mr. Freeze to Harley Quinn and the Joker, the villains were the characters that were vibrant and full of color. They drew me in from first glance. I have always said that a DC super-villain movie would be a hit, and now my dreams are coming true. I feel like a kid in a candy store! First and foremost, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn is an unexpected surprise that I am beginning to enjoy. She brings the character to life in a new way that does justice to the typical Harley Quinn image. Instead of the red and black jumpsuit from the animated series, she now dons next to nothing. This is a modern take on a girl who has lost all of her marbles and I love it. She is exactly what I want in Harley Quinn. Even with all of the excitement of my childhood dreams coming true, The Suicide Squad can't meet every single component of my dream movie. It is going to be hard for me to see the Joker played by Jared Leto. I have no doubt that Jared Leto will bring justice to the infamous character, but Heath Ledger will always be my favorite Joker. This is the first time since Heath Ledger's untimely death that the Joker is being reincarnated. We all knew this would happen eventually, I just never knew it would be this soon. It doesn't surprise me at the rate they are pumping out superhero movies (I mean, it's only been ten years and they already have another Fantastic Four coming out- and that's half due to the fact that Johnny Storm turned in Captain America somewhere down the line. Not that I'm complaining...). I can't bring back the dead, but I wish Heath Ledger was around to take his portrayal of the Joker further, even if only for another Christopher Nolan Batman movie. All in all, I can't wait to see this movie. It is guaranteed to be a blockbuster. With a movie full of supervillains, there is no limits to the amount of chaos that will ensue. I'm sure that The Suicide Squad will be the next epic superhero, I mean supervillain, movie (and maybe a worthy introduction to the Justice League?? I don't know. I'm just speculating.). Either way, I will be first in line for my ticket. |
