One thing I hear time and time again about freelance work is that people love the sound of it, but they don't know where to start. The options can be pretty overwhelming when you get to researching the best freelance website. Once you finally narrow down your freelance niche, you have to find a freelance website that caters to you. With so many websites out there, how are you supposed to decide which freelance website is the best for you?
You really have to weigh your options. Some websites tend to cater to certain niches over others as well as experience level. If you are a beginner at freelance work, you need to find a website that doesn't look explicitly for experts. You need to find somewhere that is looking for fresh faces. Every freelance website I have listed here is good for beginners, some more than others.
Fiverr is a market for online services starting at $5. That means you have to offer your services for $5. Honestly, Fiverr isn't the place you go to to make bank, but you do have the potential to come across clients with large projects that you can charge over $5 for. Fiverr is the place you go to to break into freelancing. This is where I got my start. Working on Fiverr gives you the chance to get in contact with other freelancers like you and meet clients who could potentially be long term customers. Plus, Fiverr is the easiest place to start working. My first gig was ordered within my first week on Fiverr. The best freelance jobs on Fiverr including writing, designing, coding, and recording music and voice overs.
Upwork is another great freelance website and much more detailed than Fiverr. Upwork gives you the opportunity to upload your resume and portfolio, as well set your own experience and rate. Not to mention, there are more job possibilities on Upwork. They have more categories than Fiverr including bookkeeping and various types of consulting. To get work on Upwork, you apply to a job posting, answering any questions the client asks, and offer up your rate. You could be up against anywhere from 1 to 100 other freelancers.
Freelancer is called the world's largest freelancing website. Freelancer is the place where many small businesses go looking for help in turning their dreams into reality. There are so many options as far as the services you offer. The top ones including SEO marketing, website design, and writing. Freelancer seems to set the starting price for various services, but the size of the project can call for higher prices than what Freelancer sets. Freelancer certainly offers plenty of job opportunities.
iFreelance is another website that offers a variety of opportunities. There are several different job posts that you can browse and apply for, or clients could come to you. It seems to be a combination of all these other sites. There are various price points, jobs, and communication options. iFreelance is another site that is good for breaking into the freelance business.
