Meet the blogger.

Hi! I'm Jennifer! I started Beanies & Weenies as a way to share my creativity with others. I have always loved making things. Since I was little, I have always been working on something in my free time.
Here on Beanies & Weenies, I offer tons of free crochet patterns, tutorials, advice, and inspiration from all of my projects. Anyone who has the same passion that I do for creating things will enjoy the content that I post on a regular basis.
When I'm not crocheting, you will probably find me writing. I love writing- that's part of the reason I started this blog. I graduated East Carolina University in 2017 with a degree in journalism and I am constantly working towards making writing my full-time career. Currently, I am writing my first novel!
Here are some interesting facts about me:

Meet the brand.

Beanies & Weenies started as a way to create the perfect beanie. After searching through rack after rack and bin after bin in every store, I kept coming up short. All of the beanies I found were too short, too chunky, or too floppy.
What was a girl to do?
My solution was to pick up spare yarn and a hook my mom had lying around and get to work. I tried many different patterns and videos, but they always turned out wrong. While my search for the perfect beanie is still under way, I have created several that are pretty close. Since then, it has become my mission to be able to make anything that catches my eye, just like that beanie.
The more I made, the more prospective buyers I found. People are in love with the idea of having accessories, clothing, and decor made custom to their specifications and tastes. Beanies and Weenies started out as "Crochet Scarves by Jennifer". I put flyers around town. While most of my first customers were family members and people I went to school with, it still got me somewhere. I eventually decided to keep a stock of small, easy to make items like washcloths, potholders, and various scarves. When the local farmers market came around, I was ready to set up shop!
By the summer I had made several good sells at the farmers market and had my Etsy shop open for business. To this day, I am always searching for new ideas for fashionable and cute items that catch the public's eyes, even if classes and several jobs limit my time for creating a good stock.
Beanies & Weenies still stays true to its origin by making everything in the shop available for for custom orders. You can always inquire about your own custom order on the contact page.
