DIY Succulent Desk Decor
This DIY Succulent Desk Decor really brightened up my desk just in time for Spring. With Spring just around the corner, the need to work on pretty DIY projects has been strong in me. I have so many crafts queued up on Pinterest.... there's no way I'll get to them all. Ever. But you know I'm going to try. Creating things make me feel accomplished and I really need that feeling as I am entering the last month of school.
You would think I would come back from Spring Break feeling refreshed or energized, ready to get back to work and finish up my junior year. Wrong. After Spring Break, I have only wanted to sleep all day every day and spend a little bit of time in the sunshine. Instead, I am stuck in cold, windowless rooms, working my brain until it turns to mush and feels like it's going to run out of my ears. I need DIY projects to keep me going.

That's why I have spent several of my much-needed study breaks working on small DIY projects. The DIY Succulent Desk Decor I am sharing now only took a total of 5 minutes to throw together, minus the shopping (or rummaging) for the supplies. Not only did it give me the relief of not working on school work for a few minutes, but it also brightened up my desk in just the right way. If you're desk needs a face lift, try creating this DIY Succulent Desk Decor:

Materials:
  • River Rocks
  • Faux Succulent
  • Glass Jar

Instructions:
  1. If you're like me and used a jar you had lying around (the one used in the picture is a pickle jar. Don't judge. There's nothing wrong with recycling old materials for DIY projects.), you might want to wash and wipe it out first. If you used a brand new mason jar, you can skip this step.
  2. Take your river rocks and place them in the jar, leaving a few out. You can just dump the rocks in the jar or place them in by color, creating a layered effect.
  3. Measure your faux succulent and place it in the middle of the rocks. If your succulent's stem is too long, you may need to bend or cut it to get it to sit right in the rocks. Ultimately, you want the succulent to sit right on top of the rocks.
  4. Take the remaining few river rocks and place them around the faux succulent, helping the succulent sit upright in the position that you want it in.

And, voila! Now, you have a cute new DIY Succulent for your desk that doubles as decor and a paper weight just in time for Spring.
