Milestone!

Beanies and Weenies reached a new milestone this week: the first online custom order through Etsy was shipped! It is very exciting to have figured out the Etsy shipping process and now consider myself an official online merchant. Spreading the word about Beanies and Weenies has been an important part of my business. Without social media, I would not be reaching as many people. Sharing new photos of my items for sale on Instagram, posting business updates on Facebook, and keeping up a blog here has gotten the word out about my handmade items. It is hard work and can be very confusing and hard to keep up with, but keeping up appearance on social media is well worth it. My stats have read that I have reached over 300 people a day! I have viewers in Russia, Ukraine, France, and more! That is incredible! I never thought that my work would be seen like this.

Using social media is hard work that needs to be kept up on a daily basis, and that is something that I have a hard time remembering to do. Between school, work, eating, and sleeping, I barely have enough time to check social media, much less post detailed post and search for similar users. If you check my post history, I'm sure you will find plenty of gaps in time. I have managed to find a few methods that help get my posts seen. One is the use of tags. Tags, hashtags. Whatever you want to call them, they make posts easier to notice. While they are not enough to get posts found in search, it will make them more available. I think that following others who post the same things under the same tags and liking their updates helps people get found. While, I still mystified by users who gain thousands upon thousands of followers, I am slowing making my way there! I will find the key to social media sharing eventually!
