To celebrate the beginning of the newtravel section of my blog, I've been thinking that my first post should be about somewhere I love to travel and by what better way than sharing our engagement pictures?!
Zack and I took our engagement pictures earlier last month in the Mountains of North Carolina. It was where he proposed and one of our favorite travel destinations so it just seemed like the perfect fit for our engagement pictures!
My best friend and maid of honor, Abena, was kind enough to follow us around for the day and take these incredible pictures. I think they turned out fantastic and I can't wait to start creating our website and save-the-dates!
We took these pictures in two locations, Chestoa Overlook and Ashe County Park. Chestoa Overlook is this gorgeous overlook in Linville, NC. For anyone riding by on the Blue Ridge Parkway and wants to see an amazing view, this is the perfect stop. When you park in the parking lot, you walk through a thicket of trees until they suddenly open up and reveal a 180 view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. But, those with height phobias, be aware- the overlook is literally a drop off. The only thing between you and the drop-off is a 1 foot wall around the stone platform. The view is totally worth it, but stepping out on that overlook can be pretty crazy feeling. Here are some pictures from Chestoa:
Our next stop was at Ashe County Park. My parents have been taking me to Ashe County for as long as I can remember. I used to spend hours in this park on the slide, jumping in leaves, and rolling acorns down hillside picnic tables. It has to be in my top 10 favorite parks because it is surrounding by mountains on every side. There is even a scenic little pond in the middle as well.
This place was more sentimental than Chestoa Overlook, but it made for pictures that was just a pretty as the ones on the Parkway. And here are some more pictures from Ashe County Park:
If you are ever on the Blue Ridge Parkway I highly recommend checking out these two areas. They will certainly make for special moments.
I hope you enjoyed my first travel post! This is brand new territory for me but it is something I love to do, so I figured why not share? Also, stay tuned for more wedding-themed blog posts! Naturally, I plan to (mostly) DIY our entire wedding. So, between now and October (and probably even after!), there will be tons of DIY wedding tutorials headed your way. Keep an eye out!
