Happy Cinco de Mayo! To celebrate today, I want to share with you my new found love of mojitos with my easy recipe.
I just started learning how to make mojitos in the past couple of weeks. I have a beautiful mint plant growing in my herb garden and thought that mojitos would be the perfect use for the fragrant leaves I have an abundance of. (I tried mint julep, but I'm more of a rum girl anyway.) I think mojitos are so refreshing! They will be the perfect drink to make all summer long and I see myself doctoring up this recipe to add different fruits and flavors as the season progresses.
Mojitos are made with mint, lime juice, rum, and club soda! It is a pretty simple ingredient list and makes for a refreshing and flavorful drink.
I start by muddling the mint leaves, lime juice, and sugar together until most of the sugar is dissolved and you can smell the mint fragrance. This is what it should look like:
Once you have muddled all of that together, all you have to do is add the club soda, rum, and ice! I save the ice for last so I can give my mojito one last stir and make sure all the sugar is dissolved.
Once you've mixed the whole thing together, you have a wonderfully refreshing mojito! Garnish with a lime slice and you have a festive lime drink, just in time for Cinco de Mayo! You can find the full recipe below. Let me know how your mojitos turn out in the comments below! What is your go-to Cinco de Mayo drink?
