After 22 years of living in North Carolina, I went to the Raleigh Farmers Market for the first time last week. I can’t believe I had never been before! As an avid market visitor, you would think that I would be all over this huge state farmers market. I guess I have just gotten caught up in selling at local markets and forgot to explore more.

With only a few weeks of Spring left, I decided it was time for Spring cleaning last week (Better late than never!) and while cleaning up my entire hours, I decided to make this DIY peony wreath for summer. Since it's right around the corner, I figured my house needed a little Summer touch and what better way than with pretty peony blooms?!
It's been about one month since my first "Must Have Products" blog post so that means it's time for another. This month, my focus has been all about getting ready for summer! And that includes skincare and a beach-ready swimsuit that I am in love with! Plus, I am still working my way through different products to use for the wedding, so one made this list as well.
Check out everything I've been obsessing over this month!
I took a week off from blogging last week to enjoy every last bit of my birthweek that I could! I turned 22 last Monday and for my birthday, my parents took me and Zack to the Outer Banks. I was dying to get out of town for a little while and we only live two and half hours away from the beach so we thought "why not?" We loaded up the car took off for a one night trip. While the water was freezing and way toO cold to even dip a toe in, I enjoyed getting some fresh air and just a tiny bit of sunshine.
Keep reading to see the highlights (meaning food and drinks) of our trip!
I am so excited to share my latest DIY project with you: my microwave cart turned bar cart! I am so in love with the way this turned out. It makes the perfect addition to my dining room.
This project came to be for a number of reasons. First, I had a whole bunch of liquor bottles taking up valuable space on my my kitchen counter. Second, my parents were getting rid of this old microwave cart and I thought it had potential. Third, I have an empty wall in my dining room that I felt needed something and I have always wanted a bar cart. Thus, this DIY project was born!
To celebrate the beginning of the newtravel section of my blog, I've been thinking that my first post should be about somewhere I love to travel and by what better way than sharing our engagement pictures?!
Zack and I took our engagement pictures earlier last month in the Mountains of North Carolina. It was where he proposed and one of our favorite travel destinations so it just seemed like the perfect fit for our engagement pictures!
Happy Cinco de Mayo! To celebrate today, I want to share with you my new found love of mojitos with my easy recipe.
I just started learning how to make mojitos in the past couple of weeks. I have a beautiful mint plant growing in my herb garden and thought that mojitos would be the perfect use for the fragrant leaves I have an abundance of. (I tried mint julep, but I'm more of a rum girl anyway.) I think mojitos are so refreshing! They will be the perfect drink to make all summer long and I see myself doctoring up this recipe to add different fruits and flavors as the season progresses.
Spring is a great time to try new products and that is exactly what I have been doing! With a wedding on the horizon, I have been testing the waters for beauty products to use on, as well as before, the big day. Skincare has been a big focus of mine recently. I have never had a good skincare routine and figured six months before my wedding was the time to start one!
In my April Must-Have's you can find Mario Badescu Facial Spray, a Freeman's Green Tea +Orange Blossom Face Mask, Lush's Scrubee body butter, imPress press-on gel manicure, and the cutest pineapple cocktail shaker for summer!
One of my favorite things to crochet for spring, and to have on my craft fair tables, is my mesh soap saver bags! They are so quick and easy to make. And with all of the Lily Sugar N'Cream 100% Cotton Yarn colors available, there are so many pretty color combinations.
These soap savers come in very handy. They work just like washcloths except they save every last bit of your soap. No more wasting the last little bit of a bar that always ended up falling apart and being lost down the drain. These soap savers collect every little bit. And the mesh pattern feels super soft and is great for scrubbing in the shower. Now, I'm sharing my pattern for these easy and fun crochet mesh soap savers! They only take an hour to whip up and make perfect presents, especially when paired with my crochet bath poufs! Try them out and let me know what you think in the comments below. I'm super excited to announce that Beanies & Weenies is officially hitting the market scene again!
After nearly 4 long years, I have decided to bring my Beanies & Weenies booth back to the market. Specifically, the HomeGrown-Handmade Market in Tarboro, North Carolina. I love the HomeGrown-Handmade Market! Founded last year by April Williams of Pretty Rugged Designs, another business local to Tarboro, it doesn't just focus on locally grown produce like many farmer's markets. A large part of it's vendors are comprised of handmade items which is what I love! It is giving me a great opportunity now that I have finished college and moved back home to meet more local customers, take custom orders, and offer free pick-up instead of having to charge for shipping. Starting this Saturday, April 7th, you'll be able to find me and my Beanies & Weenies booth at the HomeGrown-Handmade Market every other Saturday and some Wednesdays. Follow Beanies & Weenies on Facebook to see a calendar with all of my market dates. I hope to see you all there! |
